Applus+, via its Automotive Division in Argentina, has been licensed to run Buenos Aires’ commercial vehicle and taxi service, a service that has been operated by one of our industry competitors for the last 30 years.
This station comprises nine inspection lines and is expected to cater to a total of 40,000 Buenos Aires-registered taxis and commercial vehicles, all of which require inspection on an annual basis.
Applus+ will also take over RUTAX (Argentina’s taxi register); the granting of licences; the issuing of original vehicle documentation, whether for new vehicles, transfers or renewals; and changes to taximeters and suspensions, helping owners and drivers to manage their taxi licences.
According to Aitor Retes Aguado, Executive Vice President of the Automotive Division, “This new contract bears testament to our efforts to expand our vehicle inspection services in Argentina, one of the Division’s strategic territories – and, indeed, throughout Latin America”.
“Thanks to Applus+, we can rest safe in the knowledge that the city’s transport inspection service has the very latest technology at its disposal,” added a source close to Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, Head of Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
In 2018, the Buenos Aires government issued a call for tender for the management of the city’s statutory vehicle inspection service for all commercial vehicles registered in the city, including taxis, school buses and heavy goods vehicles.
With this new contract, Applus+ Automotive consolidates its position as one of Argentina’s key providers of statutory vehicle inspections, generating value for the Division throughout the region and underlining its firm commitment to service quality.
